Teenager Arrested Over Mass School Bomb Hoax


After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK, the teen believed to be at the heart of an Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



The 19-year-old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after some 24,000 threatening emails were sent out to schools, warning of a bomb attack imminently unless cash was handed over.



The emails were faked to appear as if they were sent by a gaming platform called VeltPvP. VeltPvP, a Minecraft player against-player server, is the same type of service that businesses use to sell their products to gamers.



A teenager who is believed to be at the heart of an Minecraft gamers' dispute was detained following an attack that engulfed the entire world shut down hundreds of schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old after 24,000 emails were sent out to schools warning about imminent attacks.



These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were designed to cause the domain's abuse to be suspended.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) said that there was no evidence of threat to the emails received this week.

The statement read that they understood parents' and teachers concerns, but we want to stress that there was no real threat to the emails schools received.



"However we take the information seriously. As this is a live investigation we are unable to comment further.'



Signs were put up outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham following the bomb hoax emails



People involved in the squabble claimed opponents had engaged in illegal activities to hinder one another's business.



"It's awful, it's not the nicest thing', one of the hoaxers stated when asked if he regretted the effect the letters had had on school students who were forced to evacuate.



In blaming VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed that the network was involved in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he claims were used to try and block other competitors' Minecraft servers.



Following the fake bomb email threat, parents were told to bring their children home.



VeltPvP issued a statement stating that they were being harassed and harassed by cybercriminals.



"We are extremely sorry for anyone who has been affected by this, but we want to let you know that this is not real."



The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and schools across the country.  Minecraft Servers  claimed that a bomb had already been planted and would explode if money wasn't given.



Cardinal Road School, Feltham, West London was one of the schools that received the hoax email



Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who were questioned.



Parents at a few schools asked to to pick up their children due to fears about the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School and Valley School.
